Also, I’ve developed this feeling of isolation that I don’t really like. I want to be in the city, down in the thick of it where all the art and music and life is happening. I’ve always complained about how I’m not some kind of crazy artist, and I think its because I’ve never been in an environment that encourages creativity. Suburbs tend to breed and encourage conformity. Now I could drop out of community college and move out of my parent’s house…but that would mean getting a job, and who wants to do that? I don’t know, I just wish I was part of the local creative people scene, where every time you turn around, someone you know is doing something new and crazy and different. Or maybe I should give up on my dreams and get a nice little house in a nice little neighborhood and get a nice little job in a nice little cubicle like the majority of people.

For one, at debates, I wouldn’t make a long ass speach out of my answers. They ask “what are you gonna do about X” I say “Well I’m gonna do Y” and thats it, no bullshit, no padding no nothing else, just bare bones what you need to know. My whole thing would be something along the lines of “Here’s straight up and down what I’m all about, if you like it, awesome!” and rather than stoop to mud slinging, I would just respond to the acusations. I’d say something to the effect of “Well yes, I admit that I did that, but I’m not that man anymore” or “That’s a bold faced lie” or “Yes, I said that, but you’re taking it out of context, see, here’s what really happened”

Basically, I’m anti-worming around to get as many votes as possible by dumping bullshit on anyone. I’m just a regular guy, not a redneck trucker good ol boy, no disconnected elitist. I’m just a guy, grew up in the suburbs, mostly average everything, my platform is [PLACE PLATFORM HERE], take it or leave it.

I think the problem stems from people in general. everyone has opinions and beliefs and they think everyone else should think just the way they do. and with the media, you can control people to a degree, therefore you’d be stupid not to use the media to further your own agenda (which is another thing, it seems like everyone has a freaking agenda). I just want a news source thats completely objective, is that so much to ask? Is it that had to get people to get over themselves long enough to report the news in such a way that it doesn’t favor any one person or group of people?

The whole debate only makes me apathetic toward anything environment-related, especially since Australia only had its coldest winter in 57 years last year. Apparently the polar ice caps are melting. But when I tried to look up the rate at which they’re melting, first google result turned up a website called “Ask A Scientist: Environmental Science Archive”. Now, you’d figure that when asking a scientist a direct question, such as “How fast are the polar ice caps melting?”, you’d get a direct answer. But the guy who did ask that question got this in response:

Vaughan, a BAS glaciologist.  The berg measures 78 Km by 37 Km and has a

thickness of 200 meters.  It is almost as large as the state of Rhode Island.

How long is that, you say? Oh? You can’t actually tell me how much they’re melting per month? Point is, if we cant even get a straight answer from those who are harping on about the threat of global warming, why are we going into militant mode and screaming out the “facts”, as so many people do?

Shut the hell up til we get some solid proof, k?

My hate for politics can be cut up into two parts. One: why I hate politicians, and Two: why I hate people who vote.

First, politicians aggravate me to a certain degree. The ones who ever get anywhere in politics aren’t there to actually run the country, they’re just there for the money and power (and maybe jack people around if they’re really evil, but I’ve yet to see that). Ron Paul was the most legitimate politician I ever saw and we all saw how well he did in the primaries.

Also, there’s the people who get all fired up about voting. For one thing, I can’t stand the bipartisanship of this country. Rather than think “who is going to run the country the way I want it run” people put it in this whole “us against them” mentality. I’ve heard a lot of Republicans/Conservatives say they’re voting for McCain not because they actually like him, but “at least he’s not Obama” and I’m sure there’s plenty of Democrats/liberals who say the same thing about Obama. Then you have your politically charged college kids who think we need to turn communist or something and have to turn every discussion into one about how everything in the government is terrible.

Of course, there’s not much to like about our candidates this time around, McCain is another Neo-Conservative Bush clone and Obama is a rookie politician who hasn’t really done anything yet and has all these vague promises of hope and change that probably won’t amount to much.

I guess what I’m saying is I’m tired of the rigmarole, I think we need a new way of doing things. Maybe dissolve the political parties or something. Just figure out a way to get some fresh ideas out there. I like what the Libertarian party stands for but they’re a 3rd party so naturally, they’re not going to get much done.

Oh well, maybe we’re all doomed and the ones who can get out of here should while they still can.

This blog comes from this strange urge to be a journalist. I guess that’s what I get for reading all of Transmetropolitan in the span of a week.
